Double Decker Pastry

This recipe is an experience for anybody, it's sort of unique and incredibly different from today's baking, today all that you should do is go to the market and pick something from the shelf, put it within the microwave plus you've got it. 
Double Decker Pastry
Well I'm old fashion if it's something I'm gonna eat and get, I need to have face to face and take action that old way.

OK enough jabber let's start the recipe therefore we can also enjoy it, remember your ingredients must be room temperature or near it.

Ingredients for dough:

  • 5 cups unsifted flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baing powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • pinch of salt
  • ' pound butter softened
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 4 egg yolks
  • ' pint sour cream
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla

Ingredients for filling:

  • 2  cups ground walnuts
  •  cup sugar for nuts
  • jam or lekvar or whatever you like
Sift together 5 cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 4 teaspoons baking powder, 2 teaspoons baking soda.

Add the butter, shortening, 4 egg yolks, ' pint sour cream, 1 ' teaspoons vanilla and lastly the pinch of salt.

Combine many of these ingredients inside your processor or mixer.

Divide dough into 3 parts, roll out the first piece and put it onto a 10 ' inch x 15 ' inch cookie sheet.

Mix together:

  • 2  cups ground walnuts
  •  cup sugar for nuts
  • jam or lekvar or anything you like

Spread a few of this mixture onto the first layer of dough, then unveil another bit of dough make it along with the filling, put a lot more from the filling together with the 2nd layer of dough, now with the third part of dough roll out and make up a lattice top on your own creation.

Bake in the preheated 350 degree oven for 40 to 45 minutes, cool and cut.

Now enjoy that which you made.
